Elevated Body Temperature Detection System

Temperature Detection Introduction
Safe Campus' Fever Detection System, powered by Athena Security Inc., provides fast, accurate mass screening for elevated temperatures. The system is non-invasive, non-contact, and fast. The system identifies the face of the subject, ignores hot spots like hot lights above and other hot objects on the person like a cell phone or hot coffee. The person looks at the camera from 5 feet away, and the system finds the hottest point on the face near the eyes, called the inner canthus. Near the eyes is the area that most closely correlates with basal body temperature, so the subject needs to remove glasses and look at the camera. The Fever Detection System is best utilized as the first of a two checkpoint system, where fever is then confirmed by a second medical thermometer. Alerts come within a second, and are delivered through multiple options including a web browser, mobile app, and can integrate with your VMS or shown to the subject on an optional iPad.

Fast and Frictionless

  • Fast and Frictionless

  • Fever screening, including SARS, Ebola, Coronavirus/COVID-19

  • High Precision Temperature Sensor

  • Accuracy with Blackbody to 0.3 °C, 0.6 °F and is our recommended approach

  • Automatically calibrates and adjusts based on ambient temperature conditions

  • Continuously self-calibrating for near zero drift

  • No manual recalculation

  • The temperatures of multiple people can be taken simultaneously, recommend one to eliminate confusion.

  • For use inside, without passing air, with appropriate back ground

  • Does not pick up asymptomatic, non-febrile people

How It Works:
Highly accurate infrared-thermal camera measures multiple points on the subjects’ face near the eye, called the inner canthus, to determine the highest temperature. By detecting and quantifying multiple points on the inner canthus, which is constantly emitting infrared energy, the artificial intelligence-based platform can then make necessary adjustments to improve accuracy. Pre-configured 99.5 F alarm thresholds send the notification, once the subject that passes into the screen is emitting energy at or above this threshold temperature. Alerts come via password-protected HTTPS web application, secure mobile app, or integrated security or video management system. The system is non-invasive, non-contact, and fast. The system identifies the face of the subject, ignores hot spots like hot lights above and other hot objects on the person like a cell phone or hot coffee. The person looks at the camera, and the system finds the hottest point on the face near the eyes, called the inner canthus. Near the eyes is the area that most closely correlates with basal body temperature, so the subject needs to look at the camera. Athena is best utilized as the first of a two checkpoint system, where fever is then confirmed by a second FDA approved medical thermometer.

Top Features Include:
Thermal Camera
The visual camera records in parallel with the infrared thermal camera so that we can show a picture to identify the subject. The real-time visual camera stream includes a visual of the Alarmed High-Temperature numerical fever reading, adjacent to the subject.

Automated Screening
The platform is automatically set up with 99.5 as (can be user-set) the alert notification threshold, and reduce the demand on operating staff because it’s “always-on”.

Fever Alarm and Notification
Temperatures above the notification threshold are automatically sent to the web application and mobile application. The same username and password are used to log in via either a web browser for the web application or mobile app.
